How to Identify
  • Very high VPIP but large gap vs PFR (passive)
  • Calls flop, turn, and river consistently
  • WTSD above 40% — goes to showdown very frequently
  • Low W$SD — wins at showdown rarely (calling with weak hands)
  • Fold to C-bet is very low

🔍 Traits & Tendencies

What They Do
  • Calls every bet no matter what
  • Calls with bottom pair to the river
  • Calls gutshot draws
  • Assumes you're bluffing constantly
  • "Just want to see" — never folds
What They Don't Do
  • Calculate pot odds
  • Apply pressure with raises
  • Fold appropriately
  • Deal with bluffs (they call everything)
  • Consider range advantages

⚔️ Exploit Strategy

Rule #1: Never Bluff

Bluffing against a calling station is always negative EV. Keep in mind at all times: "This player never folds." Build profit exclusively through value betting.

  • Large raises with strong hands: Build the pot with AK, KK, QQ+ — they'll call anyway
  • Speculative hands for sets: Pocket pairs have high call EV (calling station calls to the river)
  • ISO raise: After their limp, isolate to get heads-up
  • Suited connectors have value: If a strong draw completes, they'll call for stacks
  • Bet big: 75-100% pot for value bets. Don't fear large sizing — they call anyway
  • Zero bluff c-bets: If you miss, check down to showdown instead
  • Second pair is still value: Calling stations call with bottom pair and gutshots
  • Ignore texture: Bet strong hands on dry and wet boards alike
  • 3-street value is mandatory: Bet flop, turn, and river — calling stations call it all
  • Overbets work too: 120-150% pot overbets with the nuts are correct
  • Beware their river raises: A calling station's river raise = near nuts — give up
  • Thin value still applies: Even second-nut hands get paid off

🎯 Exploit Hand Range

Value betting range vs calling stations. Bluffs are completely removed from this range.

Range Notes
  • Broader than normal value range (second-pair equivalents become value)
  • Bluff hands completely excluded
  • Speculative hands (suited connectors, pocket pairs) call freely for implied odds

⚠️ Common Mistakes

What NOT to Do
  • Bluffing: Calling stations call ~100% of the time — completely negative EV
  • Trying to make them fold: They don't fold. Plan accordingly
  • Slowing down: "The draw got there so I'm scared" — keep betting if you have value
  • Ignoring their bets: A calling station's bet/raise = near nuts — adjust accordingly
